What is Hatha Yoga?

Hatha Yoga describes any of the physical practices of yoga poses or asanas, which presents only one of the eight limbs of yoga. What Is Ashtanga Yoga?

Ashtanga means “eight limbs” in Sanskrit, which refers to the eight limbs of yoga laid out in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Ashtanga Yoga creates a Yogic flow in the body by moving from one yoga pose to the next in a smooth way, whilst on a deeper level resistance and tensions are released.

Ashtanga follows a set of asanas or  yoga positions. It is either taught in a class with a teacher talking the students through the poses, or it is a self-practice in the group, named Mysore style. His method is loosely called hot yoga, as you do the poses in a room heated to 95-100 degrees The classes consist of a specific yoga sequence including two breathing exercises and 26 poses (variations from this series are not allowed)

This sequence takes 90 minutes and can be quite intense. Thirteen are standing and 13 are sitting, with a couple breathing and resting poses added as well. Some people believe that the heat and the manner of the instruction may cause people to push beyond their actual ability and injure themselves.
